Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about commissioning a hand-painted mural for your Palm Springs home or estate.
How long does a custom Palm Springs outdoor mural last in the desert heat?
How long a mural holds up depends a lot on the weather it faces and whether it sits in full sun or gets relief from shade, trees, or overhead cover. A wall baking unprotected in a south-facing yard will wear faster than one shaded by a patio or palms. With proper prep, primer, and paint, you can expect about 8 to 10 years before a refresh is in order.
Do you create custom design mockups before painting begins?
Yes! Warren creates digital renderings laid over a photo of your actual wall so you can preview the overall direction, proportions, and fit before any paint goes up. Keep in mind the finished mural is hand-painted, so the rendering is a feel for where we're headed, not a pixel-for-pixel preview. The same goes for color. Warren doesn't assign an exact color code to anything in a rendering; he's eyeballing shades to get in the neighborhood of what the wall will feel like. Color is genuinely subjective and everyone sees it a little differently, so there's no guarantee the mural will read exactly like the screen. He's also not going to run every shade by you, mix up endless test swatches, and bill you for a pile of sample paint along the way. The rendering gives you a sense of the look; the mural delivers the real thing.
What types of surfaces can be painted?
We hand-paint on stucco, block walls, brick, poured concrete, smooth interior drywall, wood panels, breeze block accents, and metal gates across Palm Springs residential and commercial properties. A quick heads up: the rougher the surface, the harder it is to lay down the crisp, clean straight lines that are a hallmark of our style. Heavily textured stucco, brick, and breeze block will read a little softer at the edges, so it's fair to dial back expectations of razor-sharp lines on those walls. Smoother surfaces like drywall, poured concrete, and finished wood give us the cleanest results.
How long does the mural painting process take?
Most residential pool walls and interior accent murals are completed in 2 to 3 days from wall preparation to the finished artwork.
Is there a deposit required to start a mural project?
Yes. A reservation deposit holds your start date and covers the concept design work. The second payment is due on the day work begins, and the final balance is due upon completion.
Do you service all neighborhoods in the City of Palm Springs?
Yes, we work everywhere in the City of Palm Springs and service all neighborhoods including Old Las Palmas, Vista Las Palmas, Movie Colony, Twin Palms, Deep Well, Indian Canyons, Racquet Club Estates, Mesa, Tahquitz River Estates, and Downtown Palm Springs. We're also frequent, welcome visitors to many of the area's private clubs and gated communities, where our murals have become a familiar sight.
How would you describe Warren's mural style?
Warren Priske paints custom hand-painted murals that span clean modernist lines, warm Santa Fe adobe palettes, and playful poolside scenes with tropical touches. Every piece is designed as a backdrop that sets off the furniture and greenery in front of it, striking yet always in service of the whole space.
